Rhythm Nation. 99 Problems. Black or White. 911 Is A Joke.
Music videos are more than just short films that put lyrics into visuals; they are dense cultural texts in which identities are asserted and negotiated. To start with just one example, we will begin with the videos mentioned above to explore how Black-American identities have been artistically represented in the 1980s, 90s, and 2000s. Afterwards, we will dive into current theories of inter- und transcultural learning. You'll also learn about a more sociological and, indeed: pedagogical way of thinking that explores how learning a foreign language is tied to making (new) sense of one's identity.
In the end, you will put what you have learnt in this seminar into practice by designing a teaching unit built on the accompanying Fachwissenschaftsseminar (e.g. literature, linguistics) that you have attended in the summer (RegSch) or attend in the winter (Gym). |
