In this seminar, our aim is to gain a deeper understanding of what motivation means and how we as teacher can enhance motivation in our students. Starting with a look back in history, we will review the most influential theories of motivation, before discussing current theories, trends and controversies in motivation research. We will explore what factors may have an impact on motivation and how they can hinder or enhance motivation in the context of schooling. In order to do so, we will draw on nationally and internationally published journal articles. For credits, students will be asked to present and critically discuss a journal article in class. |
