Learning Content

Different activities, exercises or tasks can (or cannot) motivate learners to learn (and enjoy) language learning. Let's find out about the differences between activities, exercises and tasks teachers normally use in the classroom (we'll have a closer look into school textbooks, too!).

A task is generally described as an activity which involves the meaningful use of language.  In this seminar we will find out what a complex task is, what its learning potential in the English classroom might be and how we can relate real-life tasks to classroom learning. Using the TBL and TSLL framework (task cycle), we will discover tasks’ levels of complexity, kinds of assessement and (peer-) feedback or the teacher’s and the learner’s roles.

Most importantly, discussions about concrete suggested tasks and their implications in the classroom will be an essential part of this seminar. Last but not least: the participants will create those tasks, too (time will be given!) in connection to your chosen other course ('Fachwissenschaft').
