Description

Why do I need this class if I can already read? Because approaching a text as a literary scholar means being aware of what happens when we make sense of a text, and having a set of tools that facilitate (literary) understanding. In this class we will hopefully raise this awareness and provide some of these tools, as well as a general idea of the subject in question. What differentiates Literature from literature? What are the fundamental differences between poetry, (narrative) prose and drama? Why are literary texts so darn difficult and what can we do about it?

Literature

Both primary and secondary texts will be provided on the Moodle page. There is no compulsory reading for this class, but every reading experience that you have had will make what you hear in class more relatable, so read, read, read!
