As part of the new module "Introduction to the USA" (StO 2020), this course will introduce you to the historical and cultural foundations of the USA. It will help you contextualize the history of American literature and provide you with a deeper understanding of the forces and developments in American society - past and present - so as to enable you to study more specific topics in American literature and culture in the consecutive modules.
Please attend the first (in-person) session on April 11, 2023 to learn about my approach to teaching American history and culture this summer term, how we will proceed exactly, and what your own responsibilities and options are when it comes to passing this course.
