Modernism: Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, Katherine Mansfield’s ”The Garden-Party” and ”Bliss”, Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway and ”Modern Fiction” (essay) – the title implies a program, a kaleidoscopic view on exemplary literary products of the first quarter of the 20th century claiming a variety of critical approaches.

A close reading of the texts mentioned above is necessary before the seminar; further samples of secondary literature will be handed out. |
