Whether as a future teacher or as a user of English in a variety of academic and professionals settings, speaking formal English in debates and while giving presentations in a variety of formats is an essential qualification that this course will prepare you for. The relevant techniques can only be acquired by practicing them in an analogue world, i.e. in person.
Our course will focus on improving your (academic) speakings skills and will hopefully help you to become more confident (again) in participating actively in group discussions on a variety of general and special interest topics to expand our vocabulary further.
Note: Everyone will be required to prepare and give at least ONE 5-min presentation on a topic of their (and my) choice during the semester. To prepare for that, we will also reactivate some basic presentation skills. |
