This practical will be taught in English, yet German questions and explanation are always possible.

By joining this practical, students learn how to search and download satellite data for their own remote sensing-based research. They know how to visualize different spectral information as images and spectral curves and they can manipulate data (stacking, cropping, band selection). For image interpretation they can derive vegetation indices and image classifications. The practical ends with a land cover change detection exercise and the creation of a map showing remote sensing-based results. Exercises are performed using the free and open source QGIS plugin EnMAP-Box. This way, students work in an environment they can use "at home" without any cost and they deepen their GIS knowledge through regular exercises.

Diese Lehrveranstaltung kann für Studierende im B.Sc. Geographie PSO 2013 als GIS 2 angerechnet werden (nach erfolgreicher Bearbeitung aller Übungsaufgaben). Eine Teilnahme an beiden Übungen wird empfohlen. Die Teilnahme an der parallelen Vorlesung "Fernerkundung" ist Pflicht im 5. Semester nach diese PSO.
Studierende des B.Sc. Geographie PSO 2021 belegen diese Übung mit zugehöriger Vorlesung im 3. Semester als Pflichtmodul. Eine mündliche Prüfung zu den Inhalten von Vorlesung und Übung führt zum Leistungsnachweis. Die Bearbeitung der wöchentlichen Übungsaufgaben ist Studienleistung im Modul.
Für Studierende Alle weiteren Interessierten aus anderen Studiengängen (und auch Geographiestudierende, die GIS 2 im Sommer belegt haben) sind herzlich willkommen. Der Inhalt der parallelen Vorlesung wird vorausgesetzt.

This practical is open to all interested students and can be accredited for students of the MSc LENC (E50) and BEE (E2.21) programmes. Students are strongly recommend (LENC) / are required (BEE) to join the parallel lecture! There will be a final exercise (with mark!) for students from MSc LENC/BEE who want credit!
