In this course, students will study the basic principles of academic, argumentative essays.
Students will write at least four essays that they hand in and for which they will receive individual written (PDF annotations) and oral (video) feedback. Each essay will have a different learning goal and will be accompanied by learning material and exercises for individual study to develop students' individual writing skills.
During the semester, we will work issues such as on structure (text, paragraph, and sentence structure), wording (style/register, range of vocabulary, exactness), and conciseness, and the overall argumentation (validity, cohesion and coherence).
Students who take this course need to hand in essays on time. Based on individual feedback on their writing and recommendations by the teacher, students must be ready to work time-efficiently and individually on their writing skills between meetings.
This course will be taught digitally via Zoom for live class meetings and individual feedback as well as Moodle for individual self-study material (Reader, video tutorials). |
