The English verb system is complex and very different from the German one. This causes specific problems when we translate from German into English. In this course we will analyse the complexity of the English verb system contrasting the different notions of the categories of tense, correlation, aspect, mood and modality in the two languages. To illustrate the theoretical findings, we will translate a multitude of examples from German into English. |
