The outcome of the Presidential Elections of 2016 has left Americans and non-Americans alike in a state of awe, perhaps shock: Is everything we know about the USA wrong? Should we have seen it coming?
The aim of this course is to lay the foundations for further studies in American history, society, and culture. Yet, we will offer a fresh look at those basics and examine them with regards to their immediate relevance as contemporary history unfolds during the semester. Ultimately we hope to gain a greater understanding of the complexity of American issues…way beyond Mr. Trump’s 140-character assumptions. |
