At a C1+ level, you can handle complex concepts, participate in debates, and justify opinions without searching for words. To excel in academic discussions in English, you must understand how to develop arguments, evaluate counterarguments, and use formal phrases to agree, disagree, or ask for clarification.
In addition to practicing those discussion skills, this course aims to expand students' vocabulary by discussing a range of relevant topics that go beyond specific academic subjects.
Note: Students who enroll in this course ought to be willing to speak in small and larger groups and share their opinions freely and respectfully.
Short, weekly assignments will be the basis for our in-class discussions and the texts and/or links will be provided on moodle. |
