This course is only open to Englisch Grundschullehramt and takes place on campus every 2 weeks (1 SWS).
In this language practice course, participants will deepen their competence in understanding and reproducing different regional and social varieties and genres of English. The main goal is for participants to continue working on their their receptive and productive English skills on authentic English media. At the same time, participants will broaden their awareness of the linguistic diversity of the English language today, reflect on their own idiosyncratic language diversity, and prepare for navigating a multilingual classroom.
Among other things, we will address the following topics:
- Loanwords in and from English
- Varieties of English in the world
- Regional dialects of English in the UK and US
- German English accent
- The multilingual classroom
- Registers and genres in English |
