Kommentar	This course is part of the module "Introduction to the USA" (StO 2020) and will introduce you to the historical and cultural foundations of the USA. It will help you contextualize the history of American literature and provide you with a deeper understanding of the forces and developments in American society - past and present - so as to enable you to study more specific topics in American literature and culture in the consecutive modules.
Literatur	Recommended: Tindall, George Brown and David Shi. America. A Narrative History. WW Norton: 2010 and later ISBN-10 039393408X ...and newer versions Mauk, David. American Civilization. An Introduction. Taylor& Francis. 2017 and later ISBN-10 1138631728 ...and newer versions. More recommendations, also for audio-books, will be listed in the moodle course.
Bemerkung	Diese Vorlesung findet ausschließlich in Präsenz statt. Der Moodle-Kurs dient zur Unterstützung des Lernfortschrittes mit worksheets, einzelnen kursbegleitenden Vorlesungsslides, short quizzes und links zu weiterführenden Materialien. Der Moodle-Kurs ist KEIN Ersatz für die Vorlesungen, hilft aber bei der Vor- und Nachbereitung der Präsenzveranstaltungen sowie der Examensklausur.
