Kommentar	What did the Reformation sound like? Could you smell war? What did the ‘New World’ taste like? How did the Enlightenment affect people’s sense of sight? Did people sleep more softly in the 1700s than in earlier centuries? In this seminar, we will read sources that provide information about the senses and sensory perceptions in the early modern period. We will explore methodological approaches to the senses in history, discussing how sensory experiences in the past can be reconstructed meaningfully. The course and all the texts will be taught in English.
